One game that was DOA was “Super Paper Mario” for the Wii
system. It was the third installment of a series. The major pitfall of the game
was the combat system involved. It was played like a traditional Mario game.
However, the prior installments allowed different expectations to form. Players were lead to believe that a turn
based would be used, and was a characteristic that lead to the success of the
earlier installments. The game designers could have fixed the game by reverting
to the old system which alienated purists.
